Sheamus attempts to get Drew McIntyre out of the CM Punk rabbit hole

After watching Drew McIntyre take a seat in the middle of the ring to cut another brutal, anti-CM Punk promo on Monday Night RAW, one of the “Scottish Warrior’s” best friends in the WWE locker room, Sheamus, marched down to the ring to get his good friend to take a deep breath, acknowledge his shortcomings and maybe, just maybe get himself out of the CM Punk rabbit hole that has consumed him for months now.

“Drew, what’s going on, man? I don’t get it, you’re sitting in the ring there sulking, complaining about how everybody’s a coward, yeah? But let’s be honest man, all I see is the only person here who’s not going to take responsibility for his own mistakes. And some might say that makes you a coward. You know, are you going to just sit there or are you going to stand up huh? Come one, after all of this time, I think I’ve earned that respect. I’ve known you 20 years, and for the last four, all I’ve heard you talk about is how you were robbed of your career-defining WrestleMania moment,” Sheamus told Drew McIntyre on RAW.

“And then at WrestleMania 40, you did it, you did it, you did it; you got your moment, you became the World Heavyweight Champion in front of a live WrestleMania crowd. Your brother John Galloway flew over from Scotland, he’s there, your wife Caitlyn was in the crowd, you saw her, you give her a kiss, you gave her a big hug and then you blew it! You blew it over some stupid social media spat. You should be standing here with that World Heavyweight Championship around your waist, but over a meme and a t-shirt, you just threw it all away like that. I mean, and I supposed to keep wearing black after that public humiliation? That burial at WrestleMania? Listen, I’m your friend, we’ve traveled the world together, we’ve had epic booze ups together and we have had banger, after banger, after banger, after banger, after banger match together, so as your friend, I’m here to tell you the hard truth: a one-armed CM Punk kicked your a**e!”

Did Sheamus’ promo work? Frankly no, probably not, as McIntyre fired back at his pal, joking that he went from working bangers to devouring burger after burger after burger, but this segment did give fans a taste of the future, as it would appear the duo will be working a program together one way or another, be that as a tag team once more or as foes for the umpteenth time in WWE.

Drew McIntyre couldn’t enjoy Europe without thinking about CM Punk.

After taking part in one fo the most successful European tours in WWE history, you’d think Drew McIntyre would be excited about his accomplishment, celebrating the experience with his fellow coworkers, right?

Nope, after working his final match on the tour, he immediately took to TikTok to answer some fan questions about WrestleMania 40and CM Punk, too.

“Why didn’t you just leave, Drew? Why didn’t you just leave? Let me break it down for you. This was everything that I worked for for over 20 years. This was my moment that I’ve earned. I’m sorry that I just wanted to soak in every single second at ‘Mania, make the World Title moment last an eternity. I wanted to celebrate with my wife whose been through h*ll, my family who sacrificed so much, all my fans who have been through so much. 70,000 of them chanting, ‘You deserve it!’ Sorry for that. And I saw Punk. And I admit, I got carried away. I got a little freaky on the table, but I told him I was going to rub the title in his stupid face, and like I’ve said already, I’m repeating for those that hear but don’t listen, I’m a man of my word.”

“I was within striking distance on purpose, and he didn’t raise one finger until I was distracted and insulted me like the coward that he is. Some of you support him despite that incident and the amount of proof over the years that Punk became a selfish monster that idiot is. So for those who ask why I didn’t just leave, if you ever amount to anything, just remember, by your own logic, you’re not allowed to enjoy the moment.”

“And oh yeah, the internet is telling the truth. I’ve said it in interviews already. I am hurt. But I keep pushing through because I’m not a pathetic, coward little b**** like CM Punk!”

You know, while McIntyre’s new character is incredibly fun and entertaining, eventually, he does need to move past Punker, especially while he’s unable to actually work matches and defend himself. While only time will tell if Sheamus can get McIntyre back to the bright side, it’s clear the duo need each other in the worst way.
