Tij Iginla is drawing serious attention from scouts ahead of 2024 NHL Draft
Brett Holmes-USA TODAY Sports

Kelowna Rockets forward Tij Iginla has drawn some serious attention from scouts ahead of the 2024 NHL Draft. The son of former NHLer Jarome Iginla has notched 47 goals and 37 assists for 84 points in 64 games this season while adding eight goals and 11 points in 6 WHL playoff contests.

Today on Daily Faceoff Live, Frank Seravalli and Steven Ellis discuss where Steven has Iginla ranked and why he has drawn big attention from NHL scouts.

Frank Seravalli: I have to ask you about Tij Iginla, some scouts have him as high as No. 6 on rankings. Where do you have him and where do you see him going, Calgary market will be really looking at this.

Steven Ellis: I have him at No. 11 and I spent a long time deciding who would be at eight, nine, 10 and 11 and I could say he could go as high as No. 6 in this draft. A lot of Flames and Habs fans have been talking about him and Iginla is a guy who loves to have the puck on his stick we saw that at the CHL Top Prospects Game where he was one of the best players in that game, and he didn’t get a point as it was one of those games where his linemates just couldn’t keep up to his pace and what he was doing.

Steven Ellis: But you see the numbers this year, he is a shooting machine who is scoring so many goals and has been playing in every scenario. I’ve said this before, but he played with the Seattle Thunderbirds last year, a deep team and couldn’t really prove himself and I don’t think many scouts considered him a first round talent. This season, he has turned it around and he has become that guy for the Kelowna Rockets to go out there and take over a shift and play him in any situation. He has tenacity, he has that family hockey background and I could really see him going at the No. 5 mark.
