Colts punter Rigoberto Sanchez to return two weeks after cancer surgery

Indianapolis Colts punter Rigoberto Sanchez wasn't sure when he'd take the field again after undergoing surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. Two weeks later, the 26-year-old is ready to kick again.

Colts head coach Frank Reich said Friday that he expects Sanchez to punt and kickoff against the Houston Texans in Week 14. Those are duties Sanchez handled prior to having surgery.

Sanchez said earlier this week that his early prognosis is positive, though also acknowledged that he's taking things one day at a time.

Sanchez signed with the Colts as a free agent out of Hawaii in 2017. He earned himself a four-year, $11.6 million deal in 2019 after finding plenty of success with the organization.

The Colts have not yet ruled anyone out against the Texans, though Reich said DeForest Buckner and Mo Alie-Cox are questionable.
