'There was MJ, there was Kobe, and now there is Anthony Edwards!' Stephen A. Smith celebrates arrival of ‘new superstar in NBA’
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves was phenomenal during that first-round playoffs as he led the charge in sweeping the Phoenix Suns. His performance has led renowned TV analyst Stephen A. Smith to compare him to game legends like Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan

Stephen A. Smith made the bold statement during a recent episode of ESPN’s ‘First Take’, where he crowned Anthony Edwards as the new heir of the league.

There was MJ, there was Kobe, and now there is Anthony Edwards; it’s like that… Ladies and gentlemen, a superstar has officially arrived in the NBA. Stephen A. Smith said

Ant-Man was on a different level against the Suns as he led without fear and even, at a point, trash-talked his mentor, Kevin Durant. While there’s a notion that Edwards still has a long way to go to be compared to legends, there’s no denying he’s on the right path. If he continues, basketball fans can expect another superstar on their hands.

But first, he must do the unimaginable by guiding the T-Wolves to a place in the Western Conference Finals. A clash against either the Denver Nuggets or the Los Angeles Lakers awaits, with the Denver Nuggets their most likely opponent as they lead the Lakers 3-1 in their series.

Draymond Green’s reaction to Anthony Edwards’ dominant performance

Veteran Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green joined many NBA personalities in praising Ant-Man after his impressive performance against the Phoenix Suns. Edwards scored 40 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and dished out six assists as the Timberwolves swept their Western Conference rivals.

Green took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to react on Edwards’ performance during the game.

Draymond Green tweeted

His post came after the 2020 NBA Draft‘s No. 1 overall pick threw a dunk in the closing stages of the Game 4. With the Timberwolves proving that they’re not walkovers after sweeping the likes of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker , then it’s only inevitable that they give the Nuggets/Lakers a run for their money, and Edwards, proves why he merits the comparison to the late Kobe Bryant and ‘His Airness’ himself, Michael Jordan.
